Making your grand opening flyer work
A grand opening flyer has one job: get people through a new door on a particular day. It goes on the shop window, in neighbouring businesses and through letterboxes nearby, so it has to say what you are, when you open and why it is worth turning up early.
What to write on it
- Lead with the words Grand Opening and your business name, then the date and time in large type.
- Give one reason to come on the day itself: a discount, a free sample, a raffle or live music.
- Finish with the street address and a short landmark, because nobody knows where a new shop is yet.
One tip
Hand them out a week before the opening, not the day before, and leave a stack at the counter afterwards for the people who missed it.
