Making your party poster work
A block party or street party poster goes up on lamp posts, in shop windows and on the noticeboard by the mailboxes. It has to invite a whole neighbourhood at once, so it should feel welcoming, say what is happening and make clear that everyone is invited.
What to write on it
- The party name as the headline, such as Summer Block Party.
- The date and time, plus the street or park where it happens.
- Two or three things to look forward to, like food trucks, music and games, and who is hosting.
One tip
If the street will be closed, say which part and when, so neighbours can move cars the night before. Check whether your town needs a permit for a street closure before you print.
