Making your graduation invitation work
Graduation invitations go to family, teachers and family friends, often for an open-house party after the ceremony. They mark the achievement and tell guests whether they are invited to the ceremony itself, the party, or both.
What to write on it
- Lead with the graduate's name and the class year.
- Say which event the guest is invited to, then its date, time and address.
- Add an RSVP line, especially if you are catering for a set number.
One tip
If the party runs for several hours, give the range. Graduation parties are often drop-in, and guests juggle more than one on the same weekend. Mail them three to four weeks before the day, after the ceremony date is confirmed.
